On June 18, 2024, a workshop was held at the inauguration of the second CERTAS Truck Parking in France, near Dax. Hosted by CERTAS, the Mayor, and ESPORG, the event included a discussion on regulatory challenges, security, and sustainability. Participants represented parking operators, alternative fuel providers, booking platforms, and urban planners. Key concerns included the lack of visibility for secure parking on motorway signs, regulatory burdens, and inconsistent permitting processes across municipalities. Discussions also covered the viability of green parking initiatives, challenges in high-capacity charging, and the impact of unmanned parking solutions. Stakeholders stressed the need for a uniform EU-wide pictogram for secure parking areas and improved coordination on security measures such as MacScanners and “green lane” labelling.
