The Padova workshop took place on October 10, 2024, during the Green Logistics Expo Fair at the stand of Unione Interporti Riuniti (UIR). The event featured a presentation on the preliminary findings of the new SSPAs study, with a specific focus on Italy’s approach to secure truck parking. Discussions centered on ongoing national initiatives to develop a network of SSPAs.
Participants included representatives from Interporto di Padova, Interporto di Gorizia, RAM, Autostrade per l’Italia, the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, and other UIR members. Key topics included Italy’s Pass4Core and Pass4Core 2 projects, funded by CEF, which aim to upgrade parking facilities nationwide. Stakeholders emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the Ministry and EU institutions to promote awareness of parking standards, as well as the importance of aligning national funding mechanisms with EU Delegated Regulation 2022/1012.
A major takeaway was the push for greater synergy within CEF funding programs, particularly by integrating SSPA development with alternative fuel infrastructure projects. Stakeholders suggested streamlining applications under a single proposal rather than requiring multiple submissions, allowing for more efficient investment in secure parking solutions and sustainable transport initiatives along Italy’s core and comprehensive TEN-T networks.
